Wednesday, December 6, 2017

On Tuesday, December 5, Zahra Sakkejha ’06 and Jenise Chen ’09 returned to Bayview Glen as guest speakers at our second Career Breakfast, and shared their insights in the Science and Research industry with our current students and parents from the Prep and Upper School community.

Zahra Sakkejha, Class of 2006, graduated from Western University for Biology and after working in immunology and genetic research, she is currently an entrepreneur applying her diverse science and business experience. Jenise Chen, Class of 2009, graduated from the University of Toronto for Chemistry and Human Biology: Health and Disease and then again for her Master of Applied Science for Biomedical Engineering and is currently conducting research while working towards her Doctor of Philosophy for Chemistry.

While Zahra shared her diverse experience in science and business, she highlighted that it is vital to make the connections and find the opportunities for career development that may lead to unexpected, exciting paths. Similarly, Jenise discussed about the importance of networking with professors and labs while studying to explore career opportunities in the scientific research field, and she also pointed out the difference between our close-knit school community and the university campus life.

Thank you to our two talented alumnae for their involvement and continuous support of our school community. The last Career Breakfast of the school year is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 7:30 a.m. in the Learning Commons at our Moatfield Campus, and will explore the career possibilities in the Computer Science profession. Please stay tuned for more details. We look forward to seeing you at our next Career Breakfast.
