For the U9 and U10 teams, as well as for Cross-Country Running and Track and Field, all students who try out will make the team. For U11 and up, where necessary, cuts may be made, due to team and field size limitations. It is compulsory for students in Grades 4 and 5 to participate in at least one team per year. It is highly recommended that students in Grade 3, and Grades 6-12 participate in at least one sport per year.

The tryout dates for each term are listed on the school calendar. Morning practices will run from 7:15 a.m. until the start of school, allowing time for the students to change and get to classes on time. Students will be supervised and taken to their appropriate school and dismissed directly to class. Afternoon practices will run from 4:00-5:15 p.m. for the Lower and Prep School, and from 4:00-5:30 p.m. for the Upper School. Students who are practicing after school will be supervised and taken directly to their practice location by their teachers/coaches. At the end of practice, parents are asked to pick their son/daughter up at the practice location. Students that are registered for study hall/after school programme will be taken directly to the programme after practices and games. Bus students will not be able to ride the bus on practice days and parents should notify the transportation department/bus driver of these days in advance.

For morning practices, students should be dropped off directly at the practice site. Parents, please ensure you have connected with your child’s coach before leaving your child at the site. Students should come to practice in their physical education clothes, and appropriate footwear – cleats and shin pads for soccer and field hockey (not needed for tryouts), indoor running shoes for basketball and volleyball, and Bayview Glen outerwear in case of inclement weather (i.e., phys-ed sweatshirts, track pants, track jacket). Only Bayview Glen athletic clothing is to be worn during practices and games, including outerwear. In addition, all students who participate on a team must have the Bayview Glen Track Suit (available at the Shops). Students should pack their school uniform in their bags and will be given time to change before class. For afternoon practices, students should pack their practice gear in a bag, and will be given time to change before the practice.

Students should sign up for a team that they are interested in participating in/trying out for. The signup lists are posted on the athletic boards throughout the school.

Uniform Windsuit Information
All team members will be required to have a windsuit. The windsuit completes the professional look of the school’s players as they represent Bayview Glen. The windsuits may also be worn as a Physical Education uniform. It is not necessary to purchase both, but the windsuit is mandatory attire for each and every member of the squad to wear for contests, whether at home or away. You may pre-order your child’s windsuit through the Guild Shop in advance at 416.443.1030, Ext. 620.

We look forward to a great year in Athletics! Go Gryphons!
