Alumni Spotlight: Ambrish Shah
Ambrish Shah, Class of 2003, graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2007 with a Bachelor of Mathematics, majoring in Actuarial Science, Statistics and Finance. Through UW’s co-op programme, Ambrish was hired as an intern at Barclays Capital in their US fixed income trading division in New York. Immediately drawn to the energy and intensity of the trading floor, Ambrish decided to shift his academic focus towards finance and fast tracked his undergraduate degree to accept a full-time job offer from Barclays. Ambrish has been a trader for 12 years, spending the first 10 at Barclays. Early in his career, he traded structured interest rate swaps and options and later moved to the cash bond trading desk. Ambrish is currently a Director at Deutsche Bank Securities, trading US Treasury Bonds and interest rate derivatives. In his work, he uses various mathematical principals and concepts, most importantly: multivariate differential calculus, statistical analysis, and game theory. Ambrish studied at Bayview Glen from Grades 5-11.
