Criteria and Guidelines

Award Description

The Distinguished Alumni Award is the Bayview Glen Alumni Association’s most prestigious Award. The Distinguished Alumni Award honours graduates of Bayview Glen who have distinguished themselves in either their chosen profession or in their community. The Alumni Association will typically present a maximum of one Distinguished Alumni Award at the School’s Alumni Reunion where the Award recipient will speak, though the Association reserves the right to issue more than one Award. The Award recipient will have his or her photograph and award statement added to a Distinguished Alumni Award wall in the School.

Nomination Process

Nominations are solicited from the entire Bayview Glen community (parents, teachers and Alumni). Alumni may nominate themselves for the Award. Each nomination must include a completed nomination form and two letters of reference for alumni who are self-nominating (each letter must be no longer than one page).

Selection Criteria

Nominations will be considered and award statements will be authored and edited by an Alumni Awards Committee, constituted by Bayview Glen Alumni Association Board members.

This Committee will advance qualified Award nominees to the full Bayview Glen Alumni Association Board for selection and ratification. The full Board will select from among the nominees, the Alumni who, in its judgment, has made the most significant contribution towards the betterment of her or his profession or community. Nominees need to be in their careers for several years and should have achieved exceptional accomplishments in their professions and in their respective communities.

The Alumni Association reserves the right to name individuals for this honour, or to decline to present the Award, should a suitable candidate not be found in a given year. In exceptional circumstances, the Alumni Association may issue an Award posthumously.
