Career Breakfast on Arts and Entertainment
On Tuesday, October 17, we were pleased to host the first Career Breakfast for this school year in the Learning Commons to explore a day in the life in Arts and Entertainment with one of our triumphant Bayview Glen alumnus, J-M Erlendson '03.
J-M Erlendson, Class of 2003, graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters of Engineering degree in Manufacturing and Process Management, and a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Though his ‘day job’ is a Senior Systems Engineer for ARIS-Alfabet at Software AG, he is a leader in the a cappella music community winning high accolades and awards for his influence in jazz music.
He shared with the students and parents about his exciting journey and his tips and recommendations for our younger generations to find success. Particularly, he left us with an inspirational perspective - to find space. He shared stories of how he found the space, the opportunity, to bring a cappella into corporate offices and theatres alike and the importance of continuing to fuel your passions while maintaining balance.
The Alumni Relations Office, in partnership with the Student Services Department, invites alumni to come back as speakers and share their interests, knowledge and passions with current students and parents in the Prep and Upper Schools through the Career Breakfasts. Thank you to our remarkable alumni for their involvement and continuous support of our school community.
The next Career Breakfasts are scheduled for Tuesday, December 5, 2017 and Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 7:30 a.m. in the Learning Commons at our Moatfield Campus, and will explore the career possibilities in the Computer Science and Science and Research industries. Please stay tuned for more details.
