Career Breakfast on Data Science
On Tuesday, March 3, Brandon Sewell '06 and Kelan McConnell '13 returned to Bayview Glen as alumni speakers at our last Career Breakfast of this school year, and shared their insights in the Data Science industry with our current students and parents from the Prep and Upper School community.
Brandon highlighted that there are lots of roles within data science that are not necessarily the engineer. Companies need to connect the client to the solution which requires both technical skills and relationship building skills. Kelan shared insights into the expanding field of data science, particularly the amount of data that is collected on a daily basis, and how this field is developing as companies use data scientists and analysts to unlock how to make all this information meaningful. Both underscored the importance of soft skills because without communication and people management, technical advances can't be explained.
Thank you to our two talented alumni for their involvement and support of our school community. All three Career Breakfasts were great successes and featured inspirational alumni speakers. We hope you could join us at the Career Breakfasts next year.
