Sachin completed his Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) Honours, Business Strategy from Smith School of Business at Queen’s University and is serving as VP, Marketing and PR at Toastmasters International since 2019. BVGAlumni Sophia Dungan ’07 has been teaching at Bayview Glen since last school year and is currently a Grade 3 homeroom teacher with a passion for nature, the outdoors and gardening. Sophia enjoys educating others about the benefits of nearby nature, and forming a bond with the flora and fauna in our communities. Before becoming a teacher, Sophia spent several years in the GTA’s woods, ravines and valleys teaching young children about building relationships with the environment, and she is particularly excited to bring her knowledge and enthusiasm in this area to Bayview Glen’s students and families. We wish Sophia all the best as she continues her legacy at her alma mater as part of the teaching staff.
Congratulations to #BVGAlumni Dr. Matthew Turnock ’02, MSS, MSc, MD, FRCPC on his remarkable accomplishments in the healthcare profession, specializing in telemedicine, high-fidelity patient simulation, pre-hospital care, aeromedical transport, aerospace medicine, neuroscience and neural networks. Matthew is a Physician and Consultant Anesthesiologist at the Royal Columbian Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is also a Clinical Instructor with the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anesthesia, Pharmacology, and Therapeutics at the University of British Columbia. Matthew received his MD from the University of Toronto, and holds a Fellowship in Anesthesiology (FRCPC) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Prior to medical school, he completed a Masters in Space Studies at International Space University and a Master of Science in eHealth at McMaster University, investigating the use of patient simulators in austere environments. He also completed an Aeromedical Transport Fellowship in Australia. We wish Matthew continued success in all that he does.
Congratulations to #BVGAlumni Sherif Nathoo ’97 on being the Top Awarded Sales Professional at CENTURY 21 from 2004 to present. Sherif has over 18 years of experience in the Real Estate industry and is also a Business Coach at Tom Ferry International. In addition, Sherif is a Property Manager at CMG Toronto where he is responsible for managing rental properties for investors locally and oversees, and he has been involved with Aga Khan Foundation Canada as a volunteer for over 25 years since 1992. Sherif graduated from Ryerson University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism Management degree and completed the Executive Education Course, Launching New Ventures at Harvard Business School in 2009. We wish Sherif continued success in his future endeavours.

Shirley is currently the Director, Global HR – Contingent Workforce at Scotiabank and has worked in various HR positions at Scotiabank since 2001. Previously, Shirley has extensive experience working at Celestica, Hudson’s Bay Company and General Motors. As a leader who has spearheaded large-scale HR initiatives in global organizations, Shirley brings a strategic and nimble approach to the entire cycle of talent management. Congratulations to #BVGAlumni Dr. George Foussias ’93, MD, PhD on his outstanding accomplishments in the healthcare profession and his research work in the mental health field. George is a Clinician Scientist in the Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute, Chief of the Schizophrenia Division and Director of the Slaight Family Centre for Youth in Transition at CAMH. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and the Institute of Medical Science, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto. His research focusses on advancing the treatment of motivation deficits and improving outcomes for individuals experiencing schizophrenia and related severe mental illnesses. We wish George continued success in his future endeavours.
Congratulations to #BVGAlumni Michael Lin ’10 on his recent promotion as Engineering Manager at Twitter. Michael currently lives in San Francisco with his wife and two cats. He has been working at Twitter since 2014 and had previous work experience at Microsoft, Amazon and IBM. Michael obtained his Bachelor of Applied Science, Engineering Science from University of Toronto in 2014, and participated in the Academic, Java and Data Structures programme at Harvard University in 2008. Congratulations to #BVGAlumni Dr. Effy Germanis ’03, ND, R.Ac on her recent opening of her own healthcare clinic, Hygeia Naturopathic Clinic, in Toronto. Effy is a Naturopathic Doctor and Registered Acupuncturist and a lover of gut health. With over 10 years of clinical experience, she has helped those with gut issues reclaim their health and their relationship with food. In her spare time, she teaches at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Effy graduated from University of Toronto in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Human Biology and Biomedical Ethics, and obtained her Doctorate, Naturopathic Medicine/Naturopathy from Bastyr University in 2012. Effy also received the Acupuncture Diploma, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2016. We wish Effy continued success in her healthcare profession.

With two decades of experience in the financial services industry, Marc has a diverse background leading global public equity, bond and private equity funds. In 2018 he joined Rally Assets, one of Canada’s leading impact investing and advisory firms, as Chief Investment Officer to build and lead the firm’s investment management business. Prior to being Rally’s CIO, Marc was a Senior Portfolio Manager at British Columbia Investment Management Corporation managing the firms $1.5 billion Global Thematic Fund. Marc obtained his BA, Economics and Political Science degree from Western University in 1998 and completed his MBA, with distinction, Finance from Ivey Business School at Western University in 2003. He is also a CFA charterholder. We wish Marc continued success in his future endeavours.
#BVGAlumni Stuart Chan ’01 has been working as a freelance Senior Digital and Strategy Consultant in Hong Kong and is currently working as Strategy Director, Social at Ogilvy Hong Kong, a New York City-based British advertising, marketing and public relations agency with over 125 offices worldwide, where he works alongside his creative team to develop local, regional and global work in line with Hong Kong’s unique role in Asia. Stuart is also working as a Strategic Advisor at MagicFew, a Crypto venture studio specializing in marketing and token launch strategies for blockchain and crypto developments. Previously, Stuart has extensive global experience working in North America and Asia-Pacific, including Mainland China, across a wide set of both B2C and B2B industry categories.
