There is a confirmed outbreak of COVID-19 at Bayview Glen Independent School (lower school). Read the Toronto Public Health notification here (pdf).
On Sunday evening we found out that an Afterschool Programme counsellor tested positive for Covid19. Toronto Public Health has been investigating this case also and the parents of those students were apprised of the situation immediately in order to keep everyone safe. These students have also been learning online as we waited for the recommendations from Toronto Public Health.
Toronto Public Health has now completed their investigation down to the length of time each student spent in the programme.
Also, all Afterschool staff have been tested. Toronto Public Health determined that the Food Services case and this case are not linked.
We remained vigilant. Please take daily screening seriously as we all work together to keep our students safe. Please also note that should any student or staff in contact with your child test positive for Covid-19, you will be notified immediately.
The community at large will be notified when the case has been investigated and we are in a position to report thoroughly on the findings, and their impact on the school as a whole.
Head of School
Dear Parents, Last night, we were alerted to a situation by Aramark, our food services provider. Two of their staff have tested positive for Covid-19. One employee whose last day at work was Friday, March 5th and a second whose last day was Wednesday, March 10th. These are two separate and isolated incidents through close contact outside of the school.
Aramark are very diligent in their food safety and Covid protocols, including their use of P.P.E.’s. Their employees deliver the food to the classrooms or serve the food on the 3rd floor behind plexiglass and P.P.E.’s. There is no direct or prolonged contact with the student population. Yet out of abundance of caution, and until we get direction from Toronto Public Health, Bayview Glen Lower School will learn online on Monday, March 15th. Our Preschool will be closed. This does not affect students on the Moatfield Campus, including siblings of Lower School students.
Further information will be shared with you tomorrow once Toronto Public Health advises us on next steps. They will have more detailed knowledge of these cases. Until then, the entire Lower School and Preschool, including the kitchen will be deep cleaned to ensure the highest health and safety measures have been met in preparation for the students return.
Thank you once again for all your support.
