This will be our final communication regarding Covid-19 this term. Please read through the information carefully:
A COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic will be offered to the BVG community.
Dr. Maria Muraca, the Medical Director of the North York Family Health Team (NYFHT), and a valued member of our BVG community, will oversee the clinic that will operate from 9:00 to 4:00 pm on Tuesday, December 21st at the NYFHT clinic.
The clinic is located at 240 Duncan Mill Road, Suite 803. This location is right across the street from the Lower School Campus. Here is a Google map image to show the exact location:
There is parking at the building and the clinic is located on the 8th floor in the medical office, Suite 803.
For the December 21st BVG Vaccine Clinic, families and staff may start booking vaccine appointments as soon as possible. The clinic will be open to the following groups:
• children aged 5 to 11 years
• children 12 years of age and up for first and second doses
• third doses for all those eligible who have had their last dose at least 6 months ago (50+, health care workers, and those with immunocompromised health conditions).
As always, we are grateful for the help to provide our families with the ability to navigate the COVD-19 Pandemic as safe as possible. We encourage all families to take advantage of this convenient vaccination clinic.
The issues around travel are very complicated and differ based on where you are travelling, vaccination status and length of stay. It is not possible to keep track of all eventualities therefore our process is based on trust. Please refer to the travel advisory in effect at the time of your travel (https://travel.gc.ca) and contact your Assistant Head of School for any clarification.
It is important for families who are travelling over the break to stay up-to-date on the Federal Government’s travel protocols as they are rapidly changing.
Rapid Antigen Testing:
All students aged 11 or younger have the Rapid Antigen Test Kits already. We require all students to complete a Rapid Antigen Test on Wednesday, December 29th and on Sunday, January 2nd prior to the start of the new term and again on Wednesday, January 5th as an added precaution. If a Rapid Antigen Test shows a positive result, then a PCR test is required.
Grades 7 – 12:
We will also be distributing these Rapid Antigen Test Kits to our vaccinated students.
• In Grades 7 to 12, the kits will be sent home with the students on the 16th or 17th of December.
• We require all students to complete a Rapid Antigen Test on Wednesday, December 29th, Sunday, January 2nd and on Wednesday, January 5th as an added precaution.
Out of an abundance of caution and as we approach our holiday season, all sports practices and games are cancelled until we return on January 3rd.
BVG has one positive Covid case in the Upper School. Toronto Public Health are currently investigating this case and we will advise you shortly as to their recommendations. All close contacts are currently self-isolating and getting tested.
