Career Breakfast on Periodontics and Orthopedics

Tuesday, December 1, 2020

On Tuesday, December 1, two talented alumni - Dr. Vinay Bhide '93 and Dr. Fahim Merali '06 - joined our second online Career Breakfast as guest speakers and shared their insights in the Periodontics and Orthopedics professions with our current students and parents from the Prep and Upper School community.
What great advice from two of our alumni for students interested in pursuing medical career paths.  "Doing what you love is freedom. Loving what you do is happiness." It was clear from Dr. Bhide that he does what he loves and loves what he does. He introduced us to the periodontic field of dentistry and the functional and cosmetic transformation that it provides to his patients. He also shared how his practice is also a business and as such provides the ability to be your own boss and create the lifestyle you desire, though you are also responsible for the financial sustainability to your employees. Dr. Merali echoed the same message. His advice to students - don't do it if your heart isn't in it, sometimes you might feel like you're flying by the seat of your pants and that's okay, you need to take care of your mental health, and finally, and most importantly, be kind. This has helped him grow his network and build his reputation among colleagues and administrators and has led to further career opportunities. He shared how his own career path allowed him to continue to learn as family medicine is a great career path that provides avenues for growth.
The last Career Breakfast of the school year is scheduled for Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. to be held online via Microsoft Teams. Please stay tuned for more details. We look forward to seeing you at our next Career Breakfast.

Bayview Glen Alumni Association New President and Board Chair

Tuesday, November 24, 2020

The Bayview Glen Alumni Association (BVGAA) is pleased to announce Christian Medeiros '12 as its new President and Board Chair. Mr. Medeiros will serve as the fourth President of the BVGAA.

“It has been a true privilege to have been a part of the BVGAA Board over the past years. We have come a long way since 2017 and I hope the alumni agree that we have been able to provide significant opportunities for meaningful participation and interactions within our community,” said Christopher Yeretsian ’08, Past President of the BVGAA. “I look forward to witnessing the next chapter and what the astounding talent on the Board will accomplish in the years ahead.”

Sincere thanks to Chris as we would not be here without his long history of contribution and his refounding of the BVGAA Board's present iteration.
Christian has been on the Bayview Glen Alumni Association Board since it was refounded by Chris in 2017, where he served on the Governance and Awards Committees. Christian joined TD Asset Management Inc. (TDAM) in August 2015 and is currently a Vice President and Associate Portfolio Manager on the Asset Allocation Team. Christian graduated from the University of Toronto, where he studied International Relations.
Christian's near-term vision for the Alumni Association is to continue to expand and support the alumni community, even though we are unable to host physical events and reunions at this time. Longer term he would like to build on Bayview Glen’s strong community foundations by increasing alumni mentorship and community engagement. Further, he plans for the Alumni Association Board to be an advocate for diversity, inclusion and equity in the Bayview Glen community at large.

If you are interested in getting involved on the BVGAA Board, please complete the online nomination form here.
