On the Friday evening of this Thanksgiving weekend, we were delighted to welcome back alumni, faculty, staff, former teachers and past parents at our annual Alumni Homecoming event on October 5, 2018.  Over some hors d’oeuvres and beverages in the Daunt Dining Hall, our Class of 2018 graduates enjoyed catching up with fellow classmates/teachers and picking up their yearbooks. Exploring the forest, listening for animals and collecting leaves was all part of Take Me Outside Day on Oct. 24th in the Lower School. Our urban campus backs onto the lush Duncan Mill Green Belt. The Don River, which straddles our backyard, is home to countless habitats and native trees. Students spent time foraging for twigs and rocks to turn into crafts and special class projects. Getting in on the ground floor, Bayview Glen has signed up for the Toronto Zoo's new environmental programme called Blue Schools. This exciting initiative has merged members of Young Round Square and the Prep School Green Team. When Wayson Choy asked a room full of Grade 9s if many of them liked to tell their friends stories, there was a sea of hands that shot into the air.  He delightedly told them they were in fact all writers since at the heart of all good writing is storytelling. Emaan Ali has always been passionate about fantasy books so when a doodle of a fictional character took shape on her worksheet, it wasn’t a surprise that Mrs. Smafpaf came to life. The grade 6 student wove a story of an old, magical woman who, not only is an expert gardener but also happens to be good at fixing people’s hearts. Sunday, September 30th from 10 am - 3pm. It's a BVG tradition to welcome Fall with a massive community celebration. It all starts with our 3km FUN RUN at 10 am at the Lower School.
