Recognized for his volunteer work, Rawlson King ’95 won a 2018 United Way Ottawa Community Builder of the Year Award, conferred during National Volunteer Week.  The award recognizes his tenure over the last three years as the volunteer President of the Overbrook Community Association, where he successfully advocated for a city-led youth strategy and a response plan to serious crime in his neighbourhood. Honeybees love the heat so they've been super busy this month. All the yellow you see on the planks is honey. It's been a great season so far. It's estimated there are nearly 20,000 bees calling the Bayview Glen hive home.

It’s often said art should be seen and enjoyed not tucked away in a studio. Toronto’s Gallery City certainly believes so. The local organization is running a summer showcase of over 35 artists across Eglington Avenue in street-side galleries.  Gallery City partnered with local non-profit art organizations to find unique contributions for the exhibition.       Our honey beehive is officially open for its second season. Our friends from Alveole were here to install our new hive on the rooftop at our Moatfield campus. It's super strong with the Queen looking healthy and busy! Our second round of BVG honey will be sweet indeed. Check out our LIVE webcam Fast facts: Bees are vegan! Think Dragon's Den but without the dragons and plenty of school time to formulate a brilliant idea and business plan. Partnering with Lucas Chang at Y2 Labs, Bayview Glen imbedded entrepreneurial thinking into the curriculum this year for Grade 8 students. The 40 minute class, introduced in September, was called PBL or Problem Based Learning.            This year, the Junior Leadership Club partnered with  Water First, a nonprofit organization that focusses on bringing clean water to communities within Ontario. Approximately two out of every five First Nations communities within the province have contaminated water. The students spent the spring learning about the importance of clean drinking water and lack of understanding around this issue. Bayview Glen's Lower School will undergo a transformation that will unify our two campuses for generations to come.
