Thank you to the alumni and guests for joining the Alumni Coffee Tasting Social 2018 at Boxcar Social Summerhill on the morning of Saturday, October 20. Graduating from the creative and competitive programme of ‘Media, Information and Technoculture’ at Western University in 2013, Ruby Benson ’09, was conditioned to become a social media expert at an early age. On June 25, 2018, we started our inaugural Bayview Glen Co-operative Education Programme. This programme starts with in-class sessions where students learn and discuss workplace culture from job readiness to confidentiality to legislation, such as human rights and employment rights and responsibilities, all in preparation for the community component, 'the placement'. Recognized for his volunteer work, Rawlson King ’95 won a 2018 United Way Ottawa Community Builder of the Year Award, conferred during National Volunteer Week.  The award recognizes his tenure over the last three years as the volunteer President of the Overbrook Community Association, where he successfully advocated for a city-led youth strategy and a response plan to serious crime in his neighbourhood. Greg Church started at Bayview Glen in Grade 6, along with his younger brother Geoff, as his step-grandmother was affiliated with the school.
