Bayview Glen is committed to making a safe environment for students, faculty and parents. As you are no doubt aware as of November 19th, 2021, Health Canada approved pediatric vaccine for children aged 5 – 11 year olds. We have sent all the Public Health information available to us to help keep you informed. All of this information is also on our website for you to review if necessary.
At this point, Bayview Glen is “strongly suggesting” that students in this age group be vaccinated. There is no plan to make vaccination mandatory for this age group this school year.
Those students who have already had a vaccination, we ask that you record this on our system by using the following link https://fs27.formsite.com/bayviewglen/bnifgea13e/index.html.
Should we have an outbreak, Toronto Public Health will need this information to decide on quarantine restriction. This information will also be needed for the Grade 3 to 6 in the spring to return to competitive sports. As always, this information is strictly confidential and only available to Toronto Public Health in an emergency.
If an Eligible Student cannot be vaccinated because of a protected ground under the Human Rights Code, a parent or guardian may request an accommodation. The accommodation process is a shared responsibility and must be balanced with our obligation to protect the health and safety of all.
BVG Covid-19 Clinic: There will be a local Covid-19 vaccine clinic for Bayview Glen 5 – 11 year old students on December 21st for those interested. More information will come out soon about this.
So far this year, we have been incident free. We credit many people for this amazing achievement. Parents who support us by monitoring their children closely, our faculty and staff for ensuring our protocols are enforced, and finally our students who bring the joy and enthusiasm for learning safely to the classroom.
As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
