The Glen | June 2020

Message from the Head of School

As I reflect on the 2019-2020 school year, one cannot ignore the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic and its affect on our school year.

While term one and two were exceptional in terms of student learning, university acceptances, team sports, clubs and the overall sense of achievement and students and school life well-being. Term three saw the end to “traditional classes” as we know them, yet our high-quality educational curriculum continued throughout the school. Only the delivery platform changed. It is remarkable how quickly and how well our students adjusted to this new experience and while it will never replace the in-classroom experience, the students enjoy their teachers and exceptional teaching.

This forced transition to online learning was implemented relatively smoothly and in a timely manner, thanks to the exceptional efforts of our faculty and staff. I know based on all the emails I have received that you also join me in sincerely thanking them.

And finally, to you our parent community, thank you for your tremendous support during this unusual time. Without your support we would not have been so successful with this new shared experience with your child. It was a positive opportunity embraced by all.

As we look towards the next school year, it is certainly our hope to welcome everyone back on campus for the start of the year. The government is grappling with what that looks like and once we know we will be in touch.

Until then, relax and stay safe and enjoy your summer as we build our resolve for the 2020-2021 school year.

While we are all staying home, we can still help those in need. Bayview Glen students Hudson (P6D), Nya (L4C) and Cienne (L4A) have been championing the Bayview Glen Gryphons’ Donation Drive in support of North York Harvest Food Bank over the past two weeks. North York Harvest is a registered charity who provides nutritious snacks to 1,800 kids in our community. “We started this fundraiser for our classmates in Grade 4 and Grade 6 and we are pleased to report that we have collected and dropped off 500 food donations, and have raised over $2,000!”

Hudson, Nya and Cienne are excited to extend this fundraiser to the whole Bayview Glen community. Please join us in showing how Bayview Glen cares, and how kids can make a difference when they work together. Check out our dedicated BVG Donation page here: and please give generously to this worthy cause. See this social media post for the students in action!
